School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences University of Greenwich London, United Kingdom {ie903, et701, M.Ghassemian}@greenwich.ac.uk This work is a simulation based comparison of three Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) routing protocols – Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), Ad hoc on demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR). The comparison is based on their performance in some existing mobility models used in the simulation of MANETs. The mobility models used in this work are Random Waypoint, Manhattan Grid, Gauss-Markov, Reference Point Group and Heterogeneous Mobility Models. With detailed simulations of the protocols across these models, comparisons are made based on results obtained using known metrics for evaluating the protocols. Also, the protocols are compared under varied categories of disaster area scenarios modelled by a Heterogeneous mobility model. Across the models with respect to considered metrics for comparison, DSR outperformed others followed by AODV and then DSDV.

Performance Evaluation of Position-Based Routing Protocols using Different Mobility Models in MANET
A Mobile Ad hoc network (MANET) is a dynamic selforganizing multi-hop wireless network. Owing the random and unpredictable movement of the mobile nodes, the topology is changing rapidly and frequently. In MANET, where is no routing infrastructure like fixed routers and routing backbones, all MNs participate in the routing process. Recently, position-aware routing protocols, and because of their...
متن کاملSecure Routing Protocol: Affection on MANETs Performance
In mobile ad hoc networks, the absence ofinfrastructure and the consequent absence of authorizationfacilities impede the usual practice of establishing a practicalcriterion to distinguishing nodes as trusted and distrusted.Since all nodes in the MANETs would be used as router inmulti-hop applications, secure routing protocols have vital rulein the security of the network. So evaluating the perf...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of MANET Routing Protocols Under Different Mobility Models
In the last several years the MANET routing protocols and mobility model combinations have been studied widely. These studies have used different MANET parameters for performance evaluation due to which the uniformity for the sake of comparison among the research works has been missing. This work provides a comprehensive study using wide range of MANET parameters, and draws conclusions for the ...
متن کاملComparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....
متن کاملThe Performance and Simulative analysis of MANET Routing Protocols with Different Mobility Models
A Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) consists of a number of mobile nodes. These mobile nodes can communicate without any centralized control mechanism. MANETs are self-organizing and selfconfiguring multi node wireless networks without any infrastructure. In MANET the structure of the network changes dynamically. The fundamental characteristic of MANETs which differentiate it from other wireless or...
متن کاملImpact of Mobility Models with Different Scalability of Networks on MANET Routing Protocols
MANET routing protocols performance is perceptive to mobility and scalability of network. The performance of any routing protocol depends on the duration of interconnection among the nodes in the networks. This interconnections results an average connected path for whole network. This paper evaluates, the impact of three mobility models i.e. File mobility model , Random Waypoint and Group mobil...
